Foodie Friday! - Homemade Taco Seasoning

We are having all of our kids and grandkids home this weekend.  How blessed is that?!  For one of our meals we are having walking tacos.  I LOVE walking tacos.  You just can't beat a meal in a bag!

In an effort to go with a healthier, lower in salt, and MSG-free taco seasoning, our daughter-in-law Melissa shared her recipe for taco seasoning.  We have had it before and it tastes just like the packaged seasoning, but you can pronounce all the ingredients.

I thought you might like the recipe too.  In addition to being healthier it will have a cost savings over time.

Homemade Taco Seasoning

1 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp cumin
1 tsp sea salt
pepper (just sprinkle a bit)

Combine all spices together. The above is per pound of meat.  (To add heat increase chili powder.)

Enjoy and Happy Friday!

  1. This is a keeper. We are definitely doing less salt at our house so this is a good one! Thanks, now do you have a good banana cake recipe?
