A Day At The Farmer's Market

The huge variety of fresh cut flowers is breathtaking.

A breakfast bowl (breakfast burrito minus the tortilla and scrambled eggs.) I get sausage, bacon, potatoes, cheese, onion, a little jalapeno, and lots of salsa. Life just gets messy sometimes.

Our grandson Mason (3) just wanted some popcorn!
(So did his Grandma! - cheddar cheese please!)

There are two positives to having to park on the top deck of the parking ramp:  the exercise and the view.

Photo Potluck

My purple coneflowers are now blooming.

I love this spider web - so much work went into it!

The lemon yellow coneflower, a newbie to the flower bed.

You know you have basset hounds when.....
on a positive note, it makes it easy to track them down.

The white coneflower just opening its petals.

And still my new favorite... the Helenium Mardi Gras.  Such a happy flower!
I love the closeup of the petals.

Rain Drops

Last Friday morning Michael left for work about 7 a.m.  Shortly after the phone rang and it was Michael.  He was so excited!  It had rained and he saw water droplets on the plants as he pulled out of the driveway.  He thought I might want to get out and take some pictures.  He would have loved to, but just didn't have the time.

I was still in my pajamas, struggling to wake up before starting work.  Michael is a much, much better photographer than I am and I knew he would have been able to capture the rain drops much better than I could, but after hearing the excitement in his voice I quickly got dressed and stumbled half awake out the door to see if I could get a picture or two.

I am so thankful that my husband finds joy in such little things and encouraged me to get out on this wet, quiet morning to see the beauty in the small things.

Antique Archaeology

Over the weekend we went to Chicago to visit my daughter and her family.  I took my camera to get pictures of the grandkids.  That was my intent, but every time I wanted to take a picture of them my camera wasn't where I was.

Does that ever happen to you?

After two nights with little sleep we decided to head home earlier than usual  Sunday morning.  Sitting too long isn't good for Michael's back and on the drive out to Chicago we didn't stop like we should have for breaks.  So on the drive home we knew we needed to be more intentional about taking a break every hour or so in order for Michael to get out and walk a bit.  We also knew this would make for a longer trip home.  Since I had my camera along and hadn't used it for anything else over the weekend, (epic fail, Grandma)...I suggested we stop at some spots where I could take a few pictures while Michael walked.

One stop was in LeClaire, just after we crossed the Mississippi River.  We decided to stop by Antique Archaeology, the store featured on the History Channel's show "American Pickers."  It wasn't far off our route and was a great place to get off the interstate and take a break.

 The main store.

Loved seeing this old bike in black and white.  It seemed fitting.

Great setting with the Mississippi River in the background.

I had to get a picture of this tall metal object as we saw the show where they bought it.  I think they called it a "go around" or something like that. I think it was the precursor to the "roundabouts" you see now.

They built this additional building a few years ago. It was designed to look like a 1930's service station.

It was a fun stop.

Photo Potluck

I love this huge tree that is not far from where Michael's parents are buried.

Hopefully you can read the above sign, it says, "Morris Circus."  This is in C. A. Morris Park in Waterloo, named after Michael's great uncle.

I saw this plane about 6 a.m. I loved watching the jet stream form as it crossed overhead.
