"Oh Good Grief!"

I couldn't help but share this with you.  I hope it gives you a good laugh and causes you to smile.

When grocery shopping recently I  tried to pick up 3 soup cans while holding my shopping list, coupons, a pen, and the lid to the pen.  I managed to get 2 cans in the cart, but the 3rd one fell to the floor and started rolling away.

You haven't truly lived until you have chased a soup can down a grocery store aisle and seriously, seriously wondered, "Is it possible this soup can is going to outrun me?"

I had visions of "Run, run as fast as you can!  You can't catch me I'm a rolling soup can!"  (you know, the gingerbread man?)

When I finally did catch up to it and retrieve it, I turned around and Michael was standing next to the cart, just laughing.  Well I was too far away to chastise him, but once I got back to Michael and the cart (yes, I had chased a soup can that far) I said, "You could at least have helped me!!!!"

While laughing he said, "I really wanted to....but I couldn't stop laughing."

That was okay,  I would have been laughing too.

*******

Once home from the store I thought the craziness was behind me.  I put some drain cleaner down the shower drain and was going to let it sit for 30 minutes as the bottle instructed, then come back and run hot water in the shower.  I turned the bathroom fan on to help with the cleaner smell.

About 1 hour and 15 minutes later I was headed back to the office to get the laptop when I heard a strange noise.  The detective in me had to check it out..... it was the bathroom fan!  I muttered, "Oh good grief!" as  I realized  I had forgotten about the drain cleaner.  So into the bathroom I went and got the hot water going.

I then went into the office (at this point I was thrilled to have remembered this was my original destination) and grabbed the laptop.  I made it back to the living room and told Michael I had forgotten to run hot water in the shower. I admitted this only because I didn't want him wondering why I had the shower running when I was sitting in the living room.

We laughed.  I've learned it is so much better than crying.

I then sat down to send an e-mail. You know how it is once you get on the computer.... email turns into Facebook turns into Pinterest turns into  working on blogs, etc.

After about 20 minutes Michael looked at me and said, "So how long do you have to let the water run?"  I looked at him with a confused look briefly, saw he was smiling, and knew I had done it again.  I had completely forgotten the shower was running.

I could only utter another, "Oh good grief!!!!"

As always, I thanked Michael for taking care of me.

He laughed and said, "Who is going to take care of me when I need it?"

We both looked at the dogs and knew that was not an option.

I could only shrug my shoulders and say, "We are going to be in big trouble."

Michael said by far his favorite part of the night was watching me chase the soup can down the grocery store aisle.

On a similar note.....

(I know, you are thinking, something else???  - welcome to my world!)

...the other morning I woke up and was obviously trying to do more than my midlife brain can handle fresh out of bed.  I turned the lights on our two Christmas trees and was talking to Belle and Willow about the Christmas trees and the lights.  I went to wish them "Happy Holidays" (because who doesn't wish their dogs happy holidays?) but what came out instead was....

"Howly Happidays."

Pretty appropriate greeting for basset hounds I guess.

So from our crazy house to yours, "Howly Happidays!"
