Yep, Bob (the beta fish formerly known as "Fish") is back!
But Bob has had a few changes in his life since his last vacay here.
First he now has the Taj Mahal of tanks. He has a heater, a filter, and about 300% more space.
But we also found out Bob has been a bit of a troublemaker lately. We know....we thought the same thing - "How much trouble can a beta fish get into?"
Bob's new tank has a glass top. There is about a 1/2 inch open area running around the top of the tank between the glass and the tank itself. There is just enough space to drop his food in.
His mom told us one morning she got up early to check on something in the kitchen and spotted something on the floor. When she bent over to pick it up, it flopped.
Yep, it was Bob.
Apparently Bob decided to party during the night and jumped through that small 1/2 inch opening..... landing on the floor. Can you imagine what Bob had to be thinking at that moment (well as much as fish think)?
"Uh-oh"
"I don't think that was such a good idea."
and
"Houston we have a problem"
come to mind for me.
So just to be safe, I put a baking rack on top of Bob 's fish tank with one metal strip right in the middle of that 1/2 inch opening so if he does get crazy during the night, hopefully he will stay in the tank and not end up on the floor. It is kind of like jail bars for Bob.
With two bassets roaming around and one being pretty exuberant, his odds of making it back to the fish tank if he jumps out are not as good at our house.
So Bob, no late night escapes.
Not on our watch Bob....not on our watch.
Not on our watch Bob....not on our watch.
Too funny! You wrote this up so much better than I could.
ReplyDeleteBob on chain gang, I love it!
