I'm not sure how I came up with this idea, but when our grandson, Liam, was born I thought it would be neat to get his baby footprint. I love Boyd's bears and decided to put his footprint on a Boyd's Bear tag. I bought a Boyd's bear when I was staying with Liz and Brian in Illinois the week after his birth.
Yep. The picture is adorable!
But you should have seen Liz and I trying to get this accomplished! It took two grown women to get this done and by the end Liam had ink from tip to toe. I'm not sure how a 1-week-old baby can outwiggle 2 adults, but he did it!
We didn't think to do it when he was sleeping!
When Mason was born I wasn't able to go up and visit right away. Work was busy and I couldn't get away as early as I wanted to. Then when I did get time off I didn't even think of the bear project - I packed the car and hurried off to see him for the first time. I can't believe I missed getting Mason's newborn footprint.
When Morgan was born I was more prepared. Liz was scheduled for a C-section so that helped me plan ahead. I took one of my own Boyd's bears with me to Illinois (they are getting harder to find) and told Liz I would like to work on a bear tag again. So now Morgan has a bear with a faint footprint on its tag - (you would think we would be getting this process down, but it is amazing how much newborns squirm - and no, again we didn't think to do it while she was sleeping!)
Now with twin granddaughters here I have stocked up. So when I go to help Tyler and Melissa I will be taking Boyd's bears and an ink pad. I will also be bringing a bear for Mason as Melissa and I have talked about putting a copy of his newborn foot print on a tag.
We will need to be prepared for ink from head to toe.
I also want to get copies of Jacob and Abigail's footprints from when they were born too and put those on a tag. Then my bear project will be up to date.
It is amazing to look at those tiny footprints. It's so hard to remember grandchildren being that small. They grow and change so fast.
But at Grandma and Grandpa Morris' house, there will always be that little footprint as a reminder of how tiny they once were.
