Just as I was looking forward to all the spring and summer colors a few months ago, now I have a list of fall things I am anxious to see and experience. Like everyone else I love the colors of fall. Nothing is more inspiring than the rich yellows, oranges, and reds that appear around us. I think I am looking forward to those colors more than usual this year as our dry summer didn't allow me to enjoy the lush green grass very long.
Right now there isn't a lot of color out there to catch my attention. The grass is brown, most of the flowers are done blooming, and the mums are just starting to open, except for a few impatient blooms that have shown themselves.
So here's what I am looking forward to:

So here's what I am looking forward to:
Decorating the front porch with various-sized pumpkins and mums in gorgeous fall colors
Juicy red apples from the bustling orchard
Vibrant oranges, yellows, and reds everywhere, even where you least expect them
VACATION
Visiting the apple orchard and going into apple overload
Hockey - I love watching the players come on the ice and take those first few strides
Freezing blueberry, peach, and apple pies after our trip to the orchard
Minnesota Vikings Football
Apple crisp with a scoop of vanilla ice cream
Apple crisp with a scoop of vanilla ice cream
Painting our front door yellow
College starting again - I missed the college kids and all the activity on campus so am happy to have them back.
Basketball games
Did I mention VACATION??
Like a few of my mum buds, I am known for being impatient.
When I was little and would say, "I wish __________ " (fill in the blank) ... my mom would say, "Don't wish your life way." So every time I find myself thinking, "I wish __________" I instantly hear my mom's voice reminding me not to wish my life away.

I know she is right. I am still trying to figure out where the last decade has gone and who that person is looking back at me in the mirror. Michael and I looked through a scrapbook a few weeks ago that I made in our first few years together - my how we have changed in the last 9 years!
So rather than saying, "I wish it was fall," I am saying, "I am excited about fall!"
My mom would be okay with that.
Leaves are turning gorgeous up here already. Hopefully they will be awesome when you come up to Duluth!
ReplyDeleteNo orchards for us this year :-( Have a cider donut for me!
I'll pass along your cider donut to Michael - he will be thrilled!
