Step Squish

Now that our Christmas tree is down our living room is back to normal, which means Belle and Willow's basket of toys is back in its usual corner.

On Sunday I sat in a different spot on the sectional and moved a couple of throw pillows onto the floor.  Without thinking, I put the pillows in front of the dogs' toy basket.

Some time during the day on Sunday I took off my slippers and left them near the pillows.

I made several mistakes here:

#1  Putting pillows in front of the dogs' toys, blocking them (mainly Willow) from getting to them.

#2  Taking my slippers off and leaving them in the same area.

Later that afternoon I saw Willow looking longingly at her toy basket and when I looked I realized the pillows were in her way and she couldn't get to her toys.

I felt bad.

I moved the pillows and got her frog out for her to play with.  As she took off with it,  I realized my slippers were also in her way.  Then I realized there was only ONE slipper there.   Apparently when Willow got the crazies earlier in the day she decided since she couldn't get to her toys my slippers were fair game.

So the search began.

"Willow what did you do with my slipper?"

I finally found it - in the corner where the toy basket was  when the Christmas tree was up.  I wonder if she was trying to tell me to move the basket back there so she could get to her toys easier.

She didn't chew on my slipper, just ran around with it apparently.  I must have been in my own little world to not have seen her with my slipper in her mouth.

I put my slipper on.

It was soggy.

And that resulted in

step...squish.

Lesson learned.

  1. Funny how they get use to things being in a particular spot. I remember coming home from a camping trip and Miss Cricket came in the house, went to where her bed was suppose to be (she had it with her camping) and had this "Mom! We have been robbed!" look on her face.
