Open For Business!

I thought it was time for a greeting card update.  If you are new to my blog, I make and sell handmade greeting cards for all occasions.  I had my cards in 5 brick and mortar stores with each store having an inventory of about 200 cards and each store in a different town. This meant a lot of visits to card shops to keep my cards well stocked or a lot of packages going out in the mail.  Having cards in that many stores made it difficult to sustain an additional inventory for direct sales.

So I decided to downsize and sell my cards in just 2 brick and mortar stores: the first store that sold my cards -  It's All About Me! located in Ames, and Market 124 in Mason City.  In addition, I was then able to open a shop on Etsy, Simply Said by Barb, and do direct sales.

If you missed the back story, my Mom was awesome at sending greeting cards.  She sent them for every occasion and for no reason at all.  She always wrote a special note in each card and thankfully I saved her cards over the years.  When my Mom passed away it was so nice to be able to look at the cards she had sent and see her handwritten notes and "I love you's."  So I decided to make and sell greeting cards that were blank inside to encourage others to write what was in their heart as well.  It means so much more to the recipient when your personalize the card yourself.

It is easy to get on Facebook and post a status, text someone, or send an email, but nothing compares to receiving a letter or card in the mail.  It is a great feeling to know someone spent that little extra time and effort to think of you.

Here is a sampling of the cards in my Etsy shop:

All cards are $4.00 with free shipping within the US.  Feel free to browse my shop.  In addition, my husband and I have photo cards available which are great for any occasion.  If you've never visited Etsy before, it is a website of talented crafters who create a wide variety of things:  jewelry, chocolates, totes, baskets, and the list goes on and on.

I welcome custom orders and special requests!  If you are interested you can view my shop here.

Have a blessed Monday!
