Last month I wrote about goals I had for this year. One of my goals was to start a writing project. I had no clue what this would look like or how it would come about. I just knew I wanted to do something new.
I don't know why I think I have to worry about those details in order for them to come to fruition - as always God's timing is amazing! Shortly after I posted that goal on my blog an opportunity presented itself! Michael was reading the Reader's Digest and saw they were having a writing contest. He said, "I think you should do it!" So I got busy!

For the contest you had to write a story of your life using 100 words or less. Let me tell you, that is not an easy thing to do! I quickly found out 100 words is not very many, especially for someone like me who loves using words! Usually the more words the better! You immediately have to start eliminating anything not essential to the story, aka: the fluff. It was much different from working on my blog.
I found myself watching the word count ticker on the Word program. I think I started with about 150 words. Cutting the first 30 was pretty easy. After that it got more difficult. I was reading and re-reading my story to see where I could take out just 1 or 2 words to decrease the count. I finally got there! In fact, it was so much fun I submitted a second story too.... and a week later Michael submitted a story! I love that Michael's love of photography has rubbed off on me and now he wanted to give writing a try.
So: writing project - check!
But I'm hoping this is just the first of many!
Write on.... :)
