Last weekend we went to visit my oldest brother, Steve, and his wife, Pat. They celebrated their 40th anniversary last year and in those 40 years I have been fortunate to enjoy Pat's cooking, baking, and recipes quite often. So when we were up there I was not a bit surprised that she was able to share some tips with me for some of my favorite recipes.
For dinner Saturday night she made marinated round steak, which Steve grilled. It had such an awesome flavor that I had to ask if I could share the recipe on my blog. It is a favorite in their family.
So here's the recipe - enjoy!
Pat's Marinated Round Steak
1/4 cup soy sauce
3 T. honey
2 T. vinegar
1-1/2 tsp garlic salt
1 T. Worcestershire sauce
1-1/2 tsp ginger
3/4 cup cooking oil
1 medium onion, chopped
Mix all ingredients in blender. Pour sauce in bottom of rectangular Tupperware container and place meat on top. The above sauce ingredients work well for about 4 pieces of round steak. Double or triple the sauce as needed and layer sauce, then meat, more sauce, more meat, etc., in Tupperware. It is best if it marinates overnight. This is wonderful grilled and does not take as long to cook on the grill as meat that is not marinated. Pat used tenderized round steak, but you could use any cut of meat you want. Before grilling just shake the Tupperware container well to redistribute the marinade evenly before putting on the grill.
I am anxious to try this on salmon and think it would be wonderful on pork and chicken too.
I always love hearing what you think after you try a recipe, so let me know!
Happy Friday!
