I love the 1983 movie Mr. Mom with Michael Keaton and Teri Garr. My favorite part is the little boy and his "wubbie." In the movie he is very attached to his blanket, but at the end of the movie after seeing his Dad give up a much-loved flannel shirt, he finally decides to give up his wubbie.
I can so relate. When I was little I loved the silk edge of a blanket and rubbed that when I went to sleep at night (yes, while sucking two fingers).
Maybe that is why I still crave comfy and cozy things, like blankets and pajamas. Maybe we never really grow out of some of our childhood things (except for the finger sucking luckily) and blankets and pajamas are the acceptable adult forms of a "wubbie."
I have discovered a new form of wubbie. I have a shirt that I wear a lot... okay almost every day during the week - let's just be honest about this. I'm home, working at the computer, so the most likely thing that is going to make my clothes "dirty" is dog hair. And if I changed clothes every time I came in contact with dog hair, I would get nothing else done during my day.
My favorite shirt is a Life Is Good shirt. I found it at a local sporting goods store and fell in love with it. The logo is perfect for me. It is a crusher shirt, and is sooo soft.
Yep, I took this picture in the mirror. I didn't want to take it off long enough to get a picture.
But this isn't a feminine shirt made with women in mind. Nope. This is a men's shirt, so needless to say it is over-sized.
The sleeves are too long so I have to cuff them back or I can't use my hands.
The shirt hangs halfway to my knees.
And it is too big for me and baggy.

It has to be quite a stunning look and Michael's heart must leap with joy when he comes home from work to find me frumping around in sweatpants and my wearable wubbie.
But I love it.
I've quit rubbing the silk on blankets.
I've quit sucking my fingers.
Please don't ask me to give up my wearable wubbie too.
