Pretty intriguing title huh? We have been very fortunate in that Belle doesn't get in to much trouble around the house.
The only thing she seems to have a hankering for is Burt's Bees Lip Balm.
When we first got her she got a hold of Michael's Burt's Bees, took it to her pet bed, took the lid off (I know... no clue how), and ate the lip balm that was remaining. The container and lid were found on her pet bed, both intact.
It was pretty convincing evidence as to who the guilty party was. Belle was the only dog at that time and Michael and I knew WE didn't do it, so it was a pretty easy case to solve. While not good for her I am sure, luckily it is all natural so can't really do too much harm in the small quantity she got.

Recently when I was in Nebraska Michael and I were talking on the phone and he said, "Oh by the way, Belle got your Burt's Bees off the bed and ate it." I honestly don't remember putting it on the bed, although I could have intended to pack it and forgotten to do so. So I don't know if she took it off my nightstand or what, but again, she uncapped it, and ate the remaining lip balm.
I think she is just on a mission to have soft lips and doesn't understand that it should be applied, not ingested.
Regardless, this is not a dog issue, it is an owner issue (aren't they all???) and we have learned we just have to be more careful about where we leave it.
So, if you come to our house, please don't leave your Burt's Bees lying around.
Or the basset with the softest lips in town will have it :)
