I think I have mentioned a time or two (thousand) that I am a lover of all things cozy.. mainly jammies.
Guys step away from the computer because this is a girl thing!
So now that the guys are out of the room and it is just us girls - I was finding myself with night sweats like CRAZY! They were happening almost every night and I was going through 2-3 sleepshirts a night. Within a few days I could easily do a load of laundry consisting of just pjs.
Then, after a year or so I began to see a pattern (sometimes it takes a while for me to "get it"). It seemed to be the same sleep shirts and pajamas that my night sweats were occurring in.
So this summer I decided I was getting some all cotton nightgowns. Of course when they arrived I was in love (sigh). Getting new jammies is like Christmas Day to me.
All summer long and into early fall, I didn't think a thing of it until a few weeks ago when I thought, "I haven't had a night sweat in MONTHS!" I thought maybe I was moving through the process quicker than everyone warns (I can't tell you how many times I have heard "It took me 10 years").
With winter approaching I realized I didn't have much for winter jammies... so I ordered new ones. I don't splurge on some things, but have discovered my favorite pajamas are Carole Hochman's. They are more expensive, but quality pieces that last. I got them yesterday and eagerly opened the package the day they arrived and picked one of my new nightgowns to wear to bed.
Well guess what. At 1 a.m. that morning it felt like someone had dumped a bucket of water on my chest. I was DRENCHED! I couldn't believe it. I was beginning to think those days were over. So at 1 a.m. I was up changing pajamas.
For those of you too young to know about them, for me night sweats mainly affect the upper body and it isn't just your pj's that end up drenched, but the sheets as well.
Yuck.
When I got up the next morning and grabbed the new nightgown I had taken off during the night a thought hit me. I looked at the label and sure enough, it was 60% cotton and 40% POLYESTER!! I looked at the ones I had worn over the summer and had no night sweats with... and you guessed it....100% cotton.
I hadn't even thought of the fabrication when ordering new ones.
So, in my case I think the fabric really does make a difference and I have ordered different ones that are 100% cotton.
Bye bye Poly!
