We absolutely love going to the Des Moines Farmer's Market. We look forward to spring each year knowing it will soon start up again. We don't get there as often as we would like, but when we do, we have a blast! It is 4-5 blocks long with vendors on both sides of the street. In addition, there are about 6 side streets with vendors branching off into those as well, so there is a lot to choose from.
Like music? There are always musicians playing throughout the market. Bands, dancers, you name it.
Here are some of our favorites and new finds from the Farmer's Market on opening day.
New find: Cake pops from Three Chicks Bakery!
The yellow one is lemon (to die for!) and the orange is chocolate. I thought their business card was just too cute!
And a personal favorite of mine - Brandmeyer Lotta-Pop cheddar cheese popcorn! This is made in Ankeny. Michael likes the caramel corn.
Michael buys some of this mustard every year, although gets different varieties of it. His eyes light up when he sees this booth!
And this Almond Bread is a-ma-zing! It is like a dutch letter but in a bread.
When toasted.....
When toasted.....
well you have to experience this for yourself!
Let's just say we limit ourselves to 1 loaf a season.

Michael and I like to say the Farmer's Market has gone to the dogs, as so many people bring their dogs with them. I couldn't resist snapping photos of a couple willing doggies :)
Isn't she just the cutest??
And this bulldog was snorting like crazy! I have heard that they snort, but never experienced it in person. He was adorable.
And slobbery :)
And slobbery :)
(Shhhhh.... Don't tell Belle dogs are allowed at the Farmer's Market.)
And the flowers and plants are always so gorgeous.... and tempting!
We each also had an almond bar from a bakery in Pella - but those were eaten on the spot, so no picture.
That would have involved sticky fingers.
Another new find this year was the Sweet Sugar Baby booth. These ladies are so talented - and had such a neat display and variety of baby items. They are also buying some of my
Simply Said cards to sell at their booth at the Farmer's Market - so if you get there please look them up!
They also have a website. www.sweetsugarbabyshop.com
We came home with everything pictured above
except the dogs and the plants.
The dogs weren't for sale.
Which is a good thing...
And the plants would have been too much to carry back to the car.
If you have never been to the Des Moines Farmer's Market give it a try.
You will be hooked too!
