Foodie Friday! - Guest Chef Liam

We recently went to visit kids and grandkids and since our grandson Liam loves to help bake and has a love, I mean L-O-V-E for pancakes, I decided to let him take us through the whole pancake process.

Enjoy pancake making through the eyes of a 5-year-old chef!
(Liam turns 5 today - HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIAM!)

 This is Chef Liam.

Once I saw his chef's hat and full-length apron (well full-length for someone his height) I knew he took this whole pancake thing pretty serious.

Then he introduced himself:

"I am Liam the pancaker.  I am Liam the mixer."

Step aside Gordon Ramsay!

You know I like easy recipes and instructions.

So here is what Liam says you will need:

"A bowl, water, and mix."

Liam's Directions:

"Put the mix in the bowl then water before we mix it."

Seriously, have you ever seen a cuter chef??

Okay, back to the recipe!  It's easy to get distracted.

"Mix it!"

And like any great chef, you have to taste it to make sure it is okay for others to eat.

Even if it means getting pancake batter on your hands.  "My hands smell like pancakes!  Pancakes is nummy!"  But all great chefs take one for the team now and then.

I'm not sure this last step was to make sure we liked the pancakes, I think it was for Chef Liam!

Obviously Chef Liam was a little distracted at this point.

(We've seen where he gets THAT from.)

Next "Put it on the pan."  Oh by the way, you will need a "flipper."

Liam's Dad does this part to help out.

The end result.

It appears that waiting for them is the hardest part.

When asked how Liam likes his pancakes the answer was pretty clear - "Regular."

In chef language this means no blueberries, no chocolate chips, no butter.  On this occasion not even syrup.  Chef Liam obviously enjoys pancakes in the most pure form, picking it up and eating it like a sandwich.

And you know they are awesome

when they are kid sister approved!

I have to say these were wonderful pancakes! (much better than my pancakes - I think I actually learned a thing or two during this!)

Chef Liam obviously knows his stuff when it comes to pancakes.

Happy Fooding and Happy Friday!
