Truffles.. a Bit of Heaven

Remember when I blogged that I had ordered some dark chocolate truffles from a shop owner on Etsy?  Well I thought it only fair to update you on how that whole experience went. It was my first time ordering a food item from Etsy, so I was curious as well about how it would go.

I placed my order on  a Thursday. Amanda (in Pittsburg, PA) started making the truffles on Saturday.  They were shipped on Tuesday and the following Friday (about 1 week from when I placed my order), that package arrived in the mail.

I took the package out of the mailbox.  And just imaged those truffles sitting in there.  I set the box on the kitchen counter, out of reach.  If I had opened it before Michael had gotten home those truffles would have been history.  I hate to admit it, but it is true.

So the box sat on the counter...

and stared at me.

I told the truffles, "I can't open you until Michael gets home - it wouldn't be fair."

So I kept busy... I had a lot to do that day after work, luckily.

We went out for dinner and to celebrate a friend's birthday.  When we left to come home we could hardly wait to get in the door.  I slowly unwrapped that box with the fancy "P" for Pavonia Patisserie bakery label, and inside....

was a gold box.

Just taking the gold lid off that box... the smell of chocolate was so awesome!  They were packaged just like any fancy box of chocolates you buy.

(This is Amanda's photo from Etsy.  If you think I stopped at this point to take a picture, you are nuts!)

And just like I promised in my  blog that day.  We sat down, put our feet up, and slowly devoured those 9 truffles.  After we had eaten 6 Michael said, "Should we save the other 3 for tomorrow?"  I said, "No way, I have waited for these for a week!"

They were so awesome.  I have eaten many truffles in my lifetime (sad but true)  but these were THE BEST!

We slowly savored the last of them (by the way, I am going to rat out Michael and tell you he ate 5... I ate 4 - for some reason that makes me feel better), and thanked Amanda and her talents for getting that little taste of Heaven to us.

I can't order them too often....

but some time when there is a special occasion....

like a full moon....

a day that ends in "y"....

or maybe just for no reason at all.....

they might shows up in our mail box again!
