Trapezoidally Talented

My mom loved doing embroidery and knitting.  As soon as she knew a grandchild or great grandchild was expected she would start knitting a baby blanket for the new arrival. She taught me how to do both, but I enjoyed embroidery the most.

I also learned how to crochet at one time.  That seemed more my speed.  Handling two knitting needles was just a little too much for me and could have been a bit dangerous, but one small crochet needle was doable and much safer for those around me.

Thanksgiving week when my daughter and her family were here for several days I asked her if she would remind me how to crochet as she knows how.  So I bought a skein of red yard and a crochet needle.

My daughter sat down with me and reminded me how to crochet again.  I am just doing a basic crochet stitch, nothing fancy.  I enjoy doing it.  There's something relaxing about it.

When seeing me crochet our 6-year-old grandson, Liam, said, "Grandma will you make me a scarf?"

Oh,  bless his heart!  He has such confidence in me!

I definitely need a lot of practice.  I don't know if I will ever accomplish a scarf...

...but I make AWESOME trapezoids!

I crochet for a while, then when I see the trapezoid beginning I pull the yarn back out and start over again, trying to improve on where I am losing stitches.

I told Michael I think I may be the Salvador Dali of the crochet world.

If you hear of anyone who needs a crocheted trapezoid please send them my way.  No charge.

I seem to excel at them!
