Foodie Friday! - Mom's Hot Fudge Sauce

This was one of my Mom's favorite recipes.  We never just had ice cream at Mom and Dad's house, there was always the question:  "Do you want strawberries or hot fudge sauce on your ice cream?"  It was always a hard choice as I like both.

My Mom made this recipe often and it was one our whole family loved.  While it may not be new to some of you, I thought it was definitely worth sharing.

Mom's Hot Fudge Sauce

1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup butter
2 cups powdered sugar
1 can evaporated milk
2 tsp. vanilla

Melt chocolate chips and butter in saucepan on a lower heat, stirring occasionally. Stir in sugar and evaporated milk, alternating the two until well blended. Bring to a boil and boil 8 minutes while stirring constantly. (This stirring for 8 minutes is the hardest part.)  Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

That's it.

Proof that chocolaty goodness doesn't have to require a lot of time and effort.

Let cool on the stovetop.  Keep refrigerated.  It will thicken in the fridge.  Warm up as much as you need each time in the microwave and it returns to a wonderful smooth sauce after warmed up.

Happy fudgy goodness Friday.
