I love fall. I love the oranges, the reds, the yellows, the mums, the cool air, and the apples!!
If you are looking for a dessert that screams "FALL" this is for you! I found this recipe on Pinterest (yep - pinned by a neighbor) and clicked on the link which led me here.
I had just been to the store and bought apples, planning to make apple crisp (one of my all-time favorite desserts), then I looked at Pinterest briefly and saw this recipe. So with my traditional apple crisp recipe all but forgotten I decided to make this instead.

Apple Crisp Pizza
Pastry for Single Crust Pie (9 inches) - use a store bought crust or here's the recipe I use:
Pam's Pie Crust
2 cups flour
1-1/4 t. salt
Stir together the above.
Pour these ingredients together, but do not stir: 1/2 cup oil
1/4 cup milk
Pour liquid ingredients into dry and blend well with fork. Shape into a ball and place on floured counter top or pastry sheet. Roll out as usual for pie crust.
This recipe is supposed to be enough for a 2-crust pie. I have never been able to get 2 crusts out of this recipe, but it worked very well to fill a 12-inch pizza pan.
(If you use a store-bought crust you will either make a smaller dessert pizza or want to try rolling it or pressing it a bit thinner so it fits in a 12-inch pizza pan.)
Place pie crust onto pizza pan. Fold edges under to create a bit of a rim, or press against the pizza pan edge to do the same.
Don't worry about making it look pretty - it is going to be covered by a lot of apple goodness!
Apple Layer
2/3 cup sugar
3 T. all-purpose flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
4 medium apples (like Gala, Fiji, Braeburn, or Empire) peeled and diced to 1/4 inch pieces
Stir the dry ingredients together, blending well. Cut apples and put in dry mixture. Shake to coat. Place apples in single layer on pie crust.
Topping
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 cup salted butter, softened
Combine ingredients as you would for apple crisp topping. I just use my hands to better mix in the butter. Sprinkle topping evenly over apples.
Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Make sure apples are tender by testing with a fork for doneness.
Drizzle
1/2 cup caramel ice cream topping - heat in microwave and drizzle over warm dessert pizza.
This is best when served warm.

What I did differently:
I thinly sliced the apples rather than dicing them. I used Gala apples and used less than 3 apples.
I removed the unused slices from the cinnamon/sugar/flour mixture (have to say, they were awesome to munch on!) and sprinkled the remaining cinnamon/flour mixture over the apples - I love cinnamon and thought the flour in the mixture would help thicken the apple layer.

There you have it.
Just a little slice of heaven to end your week on a wonderful note.
Happy Fall and Happy Friday!
