Tomorrow is my 5th colonoscopy. About 8 years ago I had a precancerous polyp and my gastroenterologist has been diligent about doing followup studies to make sure things continue to be healthy. Dr. H is awesome and I am happy he takes such good care of me and my colon.
(For more information on colonoscopies read my post "A Public Service Announcement.")
So today is prep day. If you've ever had a colonoscopy you know that the prep is truly the worst part. Once past that the study itself is a breeze.
So in honor of my 5th colonoscopy here's the top 5 reasons I am anxious for the next 24 hours to go quickly.
Dreaded Top 5
5. Working extra hours today will make for a very long day (but maybe it will keep me busy so I won't think about the following 4 so much).
4. Time spent in the bathroom. It seems like such a waste when I could be getting things done around the house instead.
3. Magnesium citrate....blech...and it is carbonated.
2. No solid food (it is 5:30 a.m. - I am already hungry).
1. I can't have chai until after my procedure tomorrow (it has dairy in it).
Michael asked me what I was going to do since I couldn't have chai.
My response: "Whine."
I would love to hear Dr. H say, "You don't have to come back for a followup study for 5 years!" That would be a treat after repeating studies every 1 to 2 years.
Prayers for a good study and good results would be appreciated!
