A Limerick & Request

There once was a bright metal grater

That for decades helped me with taters

Green peppers and cheese

Onions, carrots (not peas)

To then use in recipes later.

Our time together's now done

Using this thing is no fun

My fingers lose skin

Fingernails never win

It's time to "upgrate" - (a pun).  

So what do you choose to slice

Chop, grate, shred and dice?
